# Phone Number Authentication

> Detailed guide to authenticating Telegram accounts with phone numbers

## Phone Authentication Process

Phone authentication uses your phone number to verify your Telegram account identity.

## Step-by-Step Process

### Step 1: Enter Phone Number

1. Select **"Phone Number"** authentication method
2. Enter your phone number
3. Format: Include country code with +
4. Example: +1234567890
5. Click **"Send Code"**

### Step 2: Receive Verification Code

* Code is sent via Telegram (not SMS)
* Check your Telegram app
* Code is typically 5 digits
* Code expires after a few minutes

### Step 3: Enter Verification Code

1. Enter the 5-digit code
2. Click **"Verify Code"**
3. If 2FA is enabled, proceed to password step
4. If no 2FA, authentication completes

### Step 4: Two-Factor Authentication (if enabled)

If your Telegram account has 2FA enabled:

1. Enter your 2FA password
2. This is your Telegram 2FA password (not account password)
3. Click **"Verify Password"**
4. Authentication completes

  If you don't have your 2FA password, you'll need to reset it through Telegram before adding the account to Reach.

## Troubleshooting

### Code Not Received

If you don't receive the code:

1. Check Telegram app is working
2. Verify phone number is correct
3. Check internet connection
4. Wait a few minutes
5. Try requesting code again

### Code Expired

If code expires:

1. Click **"Back"** or request new code
2. Enter new code promptly
3. Codes expire quickly for security

### Wrong Code

If code doesn't work:

1. Verify you entered correct code
2. Check for typos
3. Request new code if needed
4. Ensure code hasn't expired

### 2FA Issues

If 2FA password doesn't work:

1. Verify it's your Telegram 2FA password
2. Check for typos
3. Reset 2FA through Telegram if needed
4. Cannot proceed without correct password

## Best Practices

1. **Have 2FA Password Ready**: Keep 2FA password accessible
2. **Enter Code Quickly**: Codes expire fast
3. **Check Telegram App**: Code comes via Telegram
4. **Verify Number**: Double-check phone number format
