Phone Authentication Process
Phone authentication uses your phone number to verify your Telegram account identity.Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Enter Phone Number
- Select “Phone Number” authentication method
- Enter your phone number
- Format: Include country code with +
- Example: +1234567890
- Click “Send Code”
Use the same phone number format you use in Telegram. Include the country code.
Step 2: Receive Verification Code
- Code is sent via Telegram (not SMS)
- Check your Telegram app
- Code is typically 5 digits
- Code expires after a few minutes

Step 3: Enter Verification Code
- Enter the 5-digit code
- Click “Verify Code”
- If 2FA is enabled, proceed to password step
- If no 2FA, authentication completes
Step 4: Two-Factor Authentication (if enabled)
If your Telegram account has 2FA enabled:- Enter your 2FA password
- This is your Telegram 2FA password (not account password)
- Click “Verify Password”
- Authentication completes
Troubleshooting
Code Not Received
If you don’t receive the code:- Check Telegram app is working
- Verify phone number is correct
- Check internet connection
- Wait a few minutes
- Try requesting code again
Code Expired
If code expires:- Click “Back” or request new code
- Enter new code promptly
- Codes expire quickly for security
Wrong Code
If code doesn’t work:- Verify you entered correct code
- Check for typos
- Request new code if needed
- Ensure code hasn’t expired
2FA Issues
If 2FA password doesn’t work:- Verify it’s your Telegram 2FA password
- Check for typos
- Reset 2FA through Telegram if needed
- Cannot proceed without correct password
